Holiday fair showcases local artisans to make homes festive
After the first snowfall of the year, and more expected to come, the holiday spirit seems to be starting here in Kelowna.
This begs the question, is it too early to start thinking about Christmas shopping?
Angie Kraushar, organizer of A Merry Little Christmas Home Décor show says it’s not.
“I think our society has changed where people want to be out of the gate early to make sure they have that special gift for someone,” she told Kelowna10. “With COVID and the supply chain being broken people are a little nervous, they want to get a head start.”
The event at Sunset Ranch Golf Club was put on by Okanagan Décor and had displays of living rooms and dining rooms to create a visual representation of how residents can decorate their home.
All the vendors were from the Okanagan looking to inspire for the holiday season and give gift ideas such as pottery, baskets, and even blankets made from sheep wool at a farm near the airport.
Kraushar said while it’s a bit different than a traditional Christmas craft fair, the end goal is still the same: creating a Christmas atmosphere wherever you are.
“Everyone wants to create a little cozy space usually for Christmas,” she explained. “You want to create a magical feel for Christmas, it can be a few things, a lot of things, but think everyone wants to do something.”
The event will continue on Sunday until 5 p.m.
