‘I can’t believe we won': Homeowner wins mortgage payment in Kelowna10 contest

More prizes up for grabs, paying for your rent or mortgage

  • Andrew Rippin’s wife convinced him to download the app
  • Their mortgage was paid for December
  • Contest available on the Kelowna10 app

It pays to download a free app.

Andrew Rippin learned that in the best way possible as he won Kelowna10’s first contest.

By entering through the app, he won his family’s mortgage payment for the month of December.

“I couldn’t believe I won it honestly. It was the first time I’ve ever won anything like this, so I was pretty stoked,” Rippin told Kelowna10.

He was presented with a large novelty cheque for $2,524 by Ryan from Beach Afternoons on 103.1 Beach Radio.

Rippin said his wife heard about Kelowna10 from a business group she’s part of and recommended he download it, too.

Part of the extra money they will have this month will go to a new office chair. Working in IT for Interior Health, he's been working from home due to COVID-19.

Currently, he’s sitting on a $35 chair from a thrift store that he wants to replace before any back issues flare up.

Rippin said he enjoys the simplicity of the Kelowna10 layout and the relevance of the 10 local stories or features on offer when he checks it daily.

Three more monthly draws will be held awarding more lucky entrants a rent or mortgage payment.

One lucky winner will win the grand prize; a whole year of rent or mortgage payments.

Potential contest winners need to simply download the free Kelowna10 app. No purchase is necessary.

The contest is open to Canadian citizens who are legal residents of British Columbia, who make their present home in the Regional District of Central Okanagan, have lived in BC for at least twelve continuous months, and must have reached the age of majority at time of entry.

The odds of winning the Contest are dependent on the number of entries submitted during the contest period.

The full details can be found on the app below the list of 10 stories.
