Over 17,000 customers were without power at one point
Update: Power has been restored to several areas of Kelowna, however FortisBC said about 9,000 customers remain in the dark as of 10:15 p.m.
While the company does not have a time for when power could be back to everyone, about 4,000 customers in Lower Mission should have their power restored within before midnight, it said in an outage update online.

A thunderstorm rolled into Kelowna Monday afternoon, bringing high winds, hail and flash flooding.
Trees were knocked down, taking power lines with them, leaving upwards of 17,000 FortisBC customers and thousands more BC Hydro customers in the dark.
FortisBC did not have a time for when the lights will be back on, nor did BC Hydro.
