Hey Kelowna! These things don't go in your recycle bin

Everything from books to toys clogging up machines

Kelowna has just been dinged with a $55,000 penalty for too much contamination in our blue bins.

Waste audits conducted regularly by Recycle BC show contamination in the region's curbside recycling carts average eight per cent, well above allowable levels of three per cent.

So what are we doing wrong?

Toby, from 103.1 Beach Radio, spoke with RDCO Manager of Engineering Services Travis Kendel about what is and isn’t allowed in our recycling bins.
