This restaurant has a unique way of calling orders
When this restaurant opened 30 years ago, it’s owner was calling out orders through yodeling.
Today, they’re still emulating this tradition, but a bit more simplified.
Big Ginger, from 103.1 Beach Radio, went to one of his favourite lunch spots in Kelowna, Wood Fire Bakery, to talk to the owner Michael Schroth and get the scoop on where their unique method came from.
“The history of it is my father started this place about 30 years ago, he used to yodel a lot,” Schroth explained. “When I took over, I wasn't good at yodeling, but we're a busy restaurant, so we kind of switched it into a bit of a singing sub call.”
It certainly catches the attention of customers when it happens, and Schroth said it just helps to keep up the energy of the eatery, as well as help staff coordinate.
Over time, the singsong method of calling orders has become well known at the establishment, and Big Ginger decided to try it out himself.
