Here’s why rebates are back at some Kelowna dealerships

Thousands of dollars in discounts available on new vehicles

For nearly two-years, used vehicles have dominated the market around the world as new vehicles fell into short supply due to pandemic related snarls.

Long wait-times, plus short supply, forced buyers to opt for pre-owed automobiles. For those on the hunt for a factory new ride, choices were limited.

But with car makers back up and running, new vehicles have started to arrive.

And with that, select dealerships have been able to bring back manufacturers’ rebates, a boon for anyone in the market to buy new as the economy softens.

“With Stellantis behind us, Okanagan Dodge is able to give consumers some really good deep discounts on these new vehicles, and potentially even just cash back to the consumer to help them through these tough times,” Clayton Andres explained.

The rebates have returned simply because more new vehicles need to be sold after a “used-vehicle vortex flooded the market,” Andres said.

Rebates and programs have pushed the price down on new vehicles so much, Andres said, that some are almost in line with the price of a pre-owed vehicle.

“After speaking with our team, some people are getting new vehicles for close to the price of what a used vehicle is now,” Andres added.

What do those rebates look like on a lot? Up to $12,000 or $14,000 in cash kickbacks for the buyer.
