Here's the most popular baby names of 2022

The most popular baby name in British Columbia is … Noah.

The ministry of health has announced the most popular baby names for 2022 and the biblical moniker came out tops.

Noah overtakes Olivia, which for the previous three years had been the most popular baby name in the province.

Noah had been knocking on the door though. In 2021, it was narrowly behind Liam as the most popular name given to boys.

Last year, no fewer than 223 babies were named Noah. Olivia remains the top name for girls.

Among the other popular names for 2022, according to the Vital Statistics Agency:

  • Oliver
  • Liam
  • Theodore
  • Jack
  • Emma
  • Lucas
  • Leo
  • Sofia

Only names that show up five or more times are listed.

The latest records also show a decline of over 6,000 babies born last year, at 37,801.

In 2021, 44,073 babies born.
