Here's 5 places to find the perfect pumpkin in Kelowna

Kelowna10 has a few places to check out this fall

Finding the perfect pumpkin is a must for autumn in the Okanagan. To help you secure the most gorgeous gourd for your home, we swung by some local pumpkin patches and compiled this list.

Don-O-Ray Farms

Established in the 1960s, the family run farm features fresh pumpkins from the field, alongside all sorts of Halloween decorations. Oh, and don't forget to swing by the haunted farm adventure that is back until Oct. 31.

When: Everyday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: 3443 Benvoulin Road

McMillan Farms

This family farm from the 1950s now produces several thousand pumpkins and gourds annually. Along with the 24 different varieties of pumpkins, the farm also has a corn maze, hayrides, tractor tours and an iconic slingshot. Make sure you check out the website for details and costs on activities.

When: Sunday to Wednesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: #1 – 3690 Berard Rd

Teejay Bilga Farms

Among the many fruit & vegetable stands on Rutland Road is Teejay Bilga Farms. This place is ideal for picking, with all different shapes and sizes on offer!

When: Everyday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: 1844 Rutland Rd. North

Tony D’s Veggies

This is a hidden gem in Kelowna. With little to no online presence, this is one of those places you need to stumble upon to know about. When heading north on Benvoulin, you'll see a giant (and we mean GIANT) orange sign advertising the pumpkins. We promise you won't want to miss this patch.

When: Various hours

Where: 2180 Mayer Rd.

Kelowna Fruit n Veggies

This family farm has the experience of four generations of farming. And not only does this place have pumpkins and other vegetables, it also has two amazing, well, mazes, and a potato cannon.

When: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: 2190 Cooper Rd.

Some tips for picking the perfect pumpkin:

  • Avoid choosing one with lots of cracks, splits, or soft spots
  • Look for a sturdy green stem
  • Pick one with a good orange colour to the pumpkin
  • Carry it by they body
