New menu on offer for Jack’s Spooky Bar
A popular downtown cocktail spot is having a pop up that’s an homage to all things fun and scary just in time for Halloween.
Spooky Bar is back at Jack’s on Bernard, where spooky spirits and deathly delicious food will be served in a Halloween themed venue full of creepy crawlies, ghosts, and more.
“Maybe you don’t like candy, maybe you like cocktails, it’s something for everybody,” Angelique Vieira, the general manager told Kelowna10. “We really want to focus on community, and people sharing and having a really amazing, immersive experience.”
Vieira said the season has a special place in her heart as her mom was born on Oct. 31, so Halloween has always been a big part of her life and she’s happy to be able to share it with everyone.
“This season is all about having fun and being creative,” she said. “The flavours are fun, being scared in this space is fun… I love what I do because I just get to have fun and be creative for my job.”
As part of the launch of Spooky Bar, a new menu by head chef Jackson Harlton was also released, with inspirations from classic traditional cuisine and Spanish tapas.
“I want to make sure that every single person that comes here is excited about what they’re eating,” he said. “I wanted to do something bold and colourful, and something that was going to stimulate good conversation and community.”
Harlton has been working behind the scenes at Jack’s for the months getting the new menu ready and said it pairs nicely with the cocktails and seasonal vibes.
“I love being part of the culinary and Okanagan community, and this is a way I can express myself,” he explained. “My whole plan was to execute something that was going to be as high quality as the cocktails.”
His favourite dish on the menu is the crispy skin duck breast, which features massaman curry carrot puree, rutabaga dauphinoise, and braised cherry jus.
