Fore! This West Kelowna golf course is ready for players

West Kelowna course set to host eager golfers this weekend

Winter is holding on but at least one local golf course is ready to host its first players this weekend.

Two Eagles Golf & Academy in West Kelowna will once again be the first layout to open for business in the area.

Pro shop manager Richard Sykes said the early openings come thanks to the location of the par 65 course.

“We are lower and closer to the water, so the temperatures are a little warmer down here than say the higher courses,” he told Kelowna10. “We also don’t have a lot of trees, so we get a lot of sunlight, and we get a lot of wind, which dries up our property quite quickly.”

Sykes said the grounds crew has been hard at work for the last three weeks getting ready.

The course is expected to welcome up to 250 players on opening day and is booked out through Sunday.

Two Eagles sees roughly 45,000 to 50,000 players annually.

Sykes said people are raring to tee it up.

“Two weeks ago, we had people calling us asking are we opening? We had snow in the first week of November, and it’s been a very snowy and cold winter,” he said. “People are excited to be outside, get active and be social again. We feel the energy around the golf course around this time of year. We always joke it’s like our Christmas.”
