Eating more food can actually be good for you. Here's why.

Eat up!

If you're not meeting your weight loss goals, it's possible you aren't eating enough food.

Kelowna Nutritionist & Fitness Coach Tania Gustafson said if you aren't consistently feeding your body, it can go into starvation mode; storing fat as opposed to burning it.

When your metabolism slows from not eating enough it can wreak havoc on your system.

Gustafson said it's best to eat within an hour of waking up in the morning and then every three to four hours throughout the day up until about an hour and a half before you go to bed.

She said it's also important to listen to your body's hunger cues. If you ignore them, over time, the signal shuts off.

Small consistent meals throughout the day are best.

Finally, Gustafson said don't be afraid of feeling hungry, it's a sign your metabolism is working.

So Eat Up!
