Regulars of the beloved store said it's 'a great loss'
It’s believed a beloved long-time convenience store in Kelowna fell victim to arson.
A massive blaze tore through the iconic Bankhead Convenience Store along Bernard Avenue on June 4. The fire destroyed the building.
Police have since said an arson investigation is underway and that one man was arrested. He was released and is set to appear in court on Oct. 9.
Officers don’t believe the fire was random and said there is no risk to other people or business in Kelowna.
Investigators are looking for any video evidence of people walking along Bernard Avenue, Burch Road, or around the Parkinson Recreation Centre between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. on June 4.
Roach, from 104.7 The LIZARD, went door to door in the neighbourhood to ask how the loss of the store impacted them.
Most agreed it was akin to losing one a neighbour, while other were hopeful it would be rebuilt and eventually return.
Check out the video to see how much of an impact the store had.
