RCMP open themselves up to questioning
Kelowna RCMP host their third and final Coffee with a Cop opportunity this month on Thursday.
The candid sessions are all about breaking down the barriers between police officers and members of the public.
Toby from 103.1 Beach Radio popped in to a session earlier this year and posed a few questions of her own. Check out the video to see those questions.
“It’s an opportunity to engage and ask questions of your community police officers and bring forward ideas and comments,” Operations Officer, Inspector Beth McAndie told Kelowna10. "When you go for coffee with a friend it’s about getting to know them and what’s important to them. We may not be your best friend but we definitely want to hear what’s important to the community."
Asked if officers were approachable, McAndie said she encourages the public to chat with officers if they see them on patrol, whether it’s downtown or in Rutland.
Coffee with a Cop takes place Thursday, Sept. 28, at Model Bean Coffee Co., 205 Asher Road in Rutland from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
There is no purchase of a coffee necessary to speak to an RCMP officer.
