Check out this Kelowna sports car that costs as much as a house

It says a lot about Kelowna that there’s a local retailer selling a used vehicle for not far off the price of the average house.

In this case, it’s the majestic 2021 McLaren 765LT - legendary sports car brand that looks like its going 100 miles an hour while standing still. When you do get it out on the road it actually goes 211 mph, that’s 340 kilometres an hour.

From a standing start it reaches 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds.

“The person in the market for this vehicle is anybody who is at the top tier of whatever they do in life,” Mike Dawson, sales consultant and inventory manager with August Luxury Motorcars told Kelowna10. “ This is a sign that you’ve become very successful at what you do, regardless of what job that is.”

And furthermore, Dawson said being able to sell a vehicle like this shows Kelowna is a happening city.

“I think we’re on the cusp of becoming Canada’s Silicon Valley. We have tons of entrepreneurs here…coming out of Kelowna but making a global impact,” he said.

Chances are anyone driving the elegant Cirrus Grey McLaren 765LT is going to make in impact. The 7-speed, 4 litre, 8 cylinder twin turbo engine generates 755 horsepower.

August Luxury Motorcars owner Matt August and General Manager Mike Hall took the car on the famous Gumball 3000 rally last year. The event supports a major charitable foundation.

“It’s an incredible, high-performance car,” Dawson said. “Apart from being loaded up with carbon fiber, which makes the car extremely light, there’s a lot of great technological advances.”

Sitting in the super-low black and burnt orange Alcantara seats, Dawson moves his finger across a touch screen that highlights the league in which people who drive this machine expect it to operate: the variable drift control.

“It’s been available in other McLarens but it’s been perfected in the 765. Just like you’d adjust your navigation you can adjust the degree in which you drift around a corner, making this car incredibly fun on the track or the road.”

You almost expect Vin Diesel of Fast & Furious movie fame to come running for the keys.

The asking price for this model, with 12,000 kilometres on the clock, is $849,990.
