Peek inside this haven for Canadian art on Pandosy

Have a peek inside this unique Kelowna bazaar

On Pandosy Street, nestled in amongst other eclectic shops is the Karmyc Bazaar; it’s storefront a visual spectacle, packed with various pieces of art.

Sarah Nick, from 104.7 The Lizard, visited the unique shop to talk to the owner, Jenelle McGuire, to learn more about her business.

“I would go to other cities and see really great art galleries and shops, and then I would come here to Kelowna and see little pockets of it, but not a whole lot in one space,” McGuire told Sarah. “So, I wanted to fill that niche.”

The store features art from about 150 Canadian artists from all over the country, as well as Kelowna creators.

The walls are lined with an array of art, from sculptures and paintings to handcrafted jewelry and soaps.

With Valentines Day approaching, she said many people are fans of the cards on offer, as well as handmade candles that are showcased.

Some of McGuires favourite local creators she features are Flora and Forest, an artist who incorporates regional flowers and ferns into her jewelry. She is also fond of Jolene Mackie, a local painter specializing in ‘surreal dreamscapes.’

“This year we’re planning on expanding what we offer to the community,” she said. “We’ll be bringing in artwork from other places in Canada that you can’t find here in Kelowna.”
