Check out Kelowna's newest downtown coffee shop

The Calgary-based brand sees big growth potential in Kelowna

When businesses first come to British Columbia, most choose to go straight to Vancouver or Victoria.

But seeing a bright future in Kelowna, Analog Coffee opted to make this city the home to it's first B.C. cafe.

And despite being open for less than three weeks, the spot on Sunset Drive at the foot of ONE Water Street was already bustling.

“We already have our regulars, and we love seeing them every day and making them their favorite drink,” owner Jenna Kopperson told Kelowna10. She also owns and operates Deville Coffee on Bernard Ave which opened during the pandemic.

Large indoor plants, wood stump stools, and a large floral mural give the coffee shop a welcoming, earthy feel.

“The special thing about Analog is handcrafted coffee,” she said. “We grind our beans, we hand tamp everything, we hand steam our milk. It’s really thoughtful, curated coffee.”

Due to the more meticulous nature of the process, Analog is not a "quick turn and burn" operation, Kopperson said. She’s confident the extra time reflects in the taste.

The shop is dog friendly and even sports a jar of biscuits on the counter for the furry friends. Kopperson herself has two canines.

Analog capitalizes on a lack of cafés in north Downtown, with a prime street-front storefront in the podium of the heavily populated ONE Water development.

The Analog brand originates in Calgary, Alta., and already has plans to expand to Vancouver next year.

Kopperson herself moved to Kelowna from Calgary over two years ago. Like many, she came to for a fresh start, going so far as to sell all her restaurant properties in Alberta.

“I think the future is so bright for Kelowna. We’re doing great things, we have great people, and great business owners,” Kopperson said. “For anybody who hasn’t been, I mean, you just got to spend a weekend here and you realize that.”
