This daily word game is taking the internet by storm
Have you noticed strange green and yellow squares on your Twitter timeline?
It's likely because your friends are playing, Wordle; an online word game that's taken the internet by storm over the last few days.
The premise is simple; users have six tries to guess a four letter word.
If any letters you guess are correct, they’re marked yellow. If the letter is both correct and in the right place in the word, it’s marked green.
There’s only one puzzle a day, posted at midnight, and players have just one chance to try and get it right.
The game was developed by a former Reddit software engineer, according to VICE News.
He made the game for his partner to play last November, but it didn’t take off among a wider crowd until last week. It boomed even more thanks to coverage in the New York Times.
