Find some great books at a great price
In its 33rd year, Kelowna Friends of the Library has summoned avid bookworms flocking in for their next read, or two, at the Great Okanagan Book sale.
Offering an unbeatable deal of just two dollars for all books and a mere dollar for children's literature.
The four-day event, which got underway Wednesday, features gently used books from the Okanagan Regional Library, and once the book isn’t popular anymore, they donate it, sell it, and give the money back to the library.
Evelin Irons with Kelowna Friends of the Library told Sarah Nick from 104.7 The Lizard, that their efforts to refresh the book selection daily have been put to the test due to the overwhelming popularity of the sale. The inventory has moved so quickly.
“We had about 800 plus boxes come from our storage area and there's about 30 books per box. So do the math," she said. “There’s thousands of books here.”
She explained many people seem to be getting their love for reading back.
“Everybody's so inundated with electronics, it's nice to get back to the book,” Irons said. “You can flip through it, you can look things up, you don't have the light in your face, and you can put it down and come back to it.”
The sale continues to 8 p.m. Friday evening and through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall, on Sutherland Avenue.
