Vividus: Full of Life, runs May 2 & 3, at the Kelowna Community Theatre with virbant works from three of Canada's most illustrious choreographers.
Ballet Kelowna's own Artistic Director and CEO Simone Orlando will return with her powerfully raw exploration of liberation in Rite of Spring – which is Orlando's own take on the work that is widely believed to be one of the most influential works of the 20th century, from Igor Stravinskly. This work returns to Kelowna for the first time since its premiere in May 2019.
Vancouver-based Lesley Telford will make her Ballet Kelowna debut with the Kelowna premiere of An Instant, which was originally commissioned by Ballet BC. Described as "strange, haunting, and thought-provoking... Telford pushes the dancers off axis, bends them over backwards, and sends them leaping in reverse" (The Georgia Straight).
And to finish off the evening is the world premiere of Le Carnaval des Animaux from The National Ballet of Canada's Principal Dancer Guillaume Côté, which will bring some light-hearted fun to the program with its exuberant energy of frolicking and fun.
