One dead after ATV accident

One person died, another airlifted to hospital

Kelowna RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating a death involving an all-terrain vehicle.

On Sept. 25, 2021, after 3 a.m., officer responded to a distress signal from a GPS device in the Postil Lake area near Wallaston Forrest Service Road and Brunette Forest Service Road.

Police, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR), Vernon Search and Rescue and B.C. Emergency Health Services worked to locate the site in the rural remote forestry area.

A 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man, also 52, was airlifted by BCEHS to Kelowna General Hospital in serious, life-threatening condition.

In a media release, COSAR President Brad Trites offered his sympathies.

“On behalf of COSARS members, I would like to share our sincerest condolences to the families of those involved in this accident.”

The investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing.

This was COSAR’s third call of the week and 83 of the year.
