A car elevator is part of this new Pandosy Street proposal

Heritage elements inspire design

A six-storey mixed-use development is being proposed for the corner of Pandosy Street and Osprey Avenue.

According to documents submitted to city hall by Worman Homes, the development will have retail, office, and residential units.

Retail will occupy the ground level, with parking on the second floor. There will be three floors of office space, and a penthouse level with one residential unit and an additional office unit.

Customer parking will be accessed off the back lane, tucked under the building, while tenant parking will be accessible via an elevator on the second floor parkade.

This “innovative element,” according to the application, allows the parking to be hidden.

“Functionally, by having these stalls reserved and used by the tenants … we are able to allow the elevator use only by those approved and familiar with the relatively new way to access parking.”

Part of the application includes a request for a height variance from four to six floors. The building’s design follows that of its future neighbours, incorporating heritage-based architecture elements.

After circulating among city staff, the plans will be sent to city council for approval.
