Help that's close to people's work or study
It's another step in the right direction for much-needed childcare space in Kelowna.
The Landmark YMCA Child Care Centre, in partnership with the Stober Group, had its official ribbon-cutting Wednesday.
It will offer 53 licensed child care spaces for children 0–5 years old including infant toddler care and 3–5 care.
It brings childcare directly to people who work, live or study in the Landmark area at its location at Suite B1 – 1708 Dolphin Avenue Kelowna.
The enormity of the childcare shortage is a major barrier for families and for economic activity in the city, especially when it comes to toddler care. As Danielle Miranda, COO YMCA Southern Interior B.C., told Kelown10, there are 4,000 people on their waitlist.
The opening of the new licensed child care spaces, was made possible through a joint investment from the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund and the Canada-British Columbia Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
Situated in the heart of Kelowna’s city centre, the modern facility offers affordable, safe, and nurturing child care that is easily accessible to local families and businesspeople working in the area.
